Motorists to pay more as UAE announces petrol, diesel prices for August 2026
New rates take effect across the country from August 1
DUBAI – Motorists across the UAE will pay more at the pump from Saturday after the UAE Fuel Price Committee announced higher retail prices for petrol and diesel for August 2026.
The revised rates will come into effect on August 1 and apply across all fuel stations nationwide. The increase follows a brief decline in July, when prices eased after four consecutive months of sharp rises.
New fuel rates
Super 98 petrol will cost Dh3.60 per litre in August, up from Dh3.40 in July. Special 95 petrol has been set at Dh3.49 per litre, compared with Dh3.29 last month, while E-Plus 91 will rise to Dh3.41 per litre from Dh3.21. Diesel will also become more expensive, increasing to Dh3.80 per litre from Dh3.60 in July.
The UAE Fuel Price Committee reviews and adjusts retail fuel prices at the end of every month in line with prevailing trends in global energy markets.
July had brought some relief to motorists after fuel prices fell following four consecutive monthly increases driven by the US-Israel-Iran conflict and the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz. However, the latest revision reverses that decline, taking prices higher once again across all fuel categories.
Fuel prices in the UAE have climbed by more than 60 percent since the outbreak of the Middle East conflict on February 28, before easing in July. The renewed flare-up in tensions between the US and Iran on July 29 has kept global energy markets on edge, after oil prices had already surged following US President Donald Trump's warning that Iran would be hit "very hard" in response to an Iranian missile attack on a US base in Jordan on July 28.
The monthly adjustment in fuel prices has a direct impact on household budgets and transport costs, as petrol and diesel remain essential recurring expenses for residents and businesses alike.
